Welcome to my website!

I love writing children’s books about nature and the environment. Real life encounters with animals and insects inspire my stories. Even some of my fiction characters come from furry creatures found in my countryside neighborhood in Buxton, Maine.

So poke around and enjoy your stay.

Be on the lookout for:

  • January 5th is National Bird Day!
  • Male White-tailed deer are shedding their antlers to conserve energy
  • Late January at dusk is the best time to hear hoots of Great Horned owls, Barred owls, and Eastern Screech owls as they set up their territories
  • Listen! winter sounds are different- rattle of beech leaves, cracking of trees, ice, and snow
  • January is a good time to spot birds that are out of their normal winter range like Pine grosbeaks, Evening grosbeaks, Bohemian waxwings, common redpolls, and Snowy owls
  • Use a magnifying glass and a dark cloth to examine individual snowflakes- nature is gorgeous!
  • Not true hibernators, chipmunks, skunks, opossums, and raccoons may emerge from dens every few weeks
