Welcome to my website!

I love writing children’s books about nature and the environment. Real life encounters with animals and insects inspire my stories. Even some of my fiction characters come from furry creatures found in my countryside neighborhood in Buxton, Maine.

So poke around and enjoy your stay.

Be on the lookout for:

  • On average, Red-winged blackbirds migrate back to Maine a little earlier each year.  Listen for their Kon-ka-ree! song in marshy areas
  • Woodpeckers increase their drumming in February as they set up territories for nesting
  • Turkey vultures migrate north in March- they often follow highways as a source of food (yup! roadkill)
  • It’s maple sugar time! Watch for little icicles at the tips of sugar maple twigs- a signal that sap is flowing
  • Listen for the peter-peter-peter song of the Tufted Titmouse telling us spring is just ahead
  • Red foxes begin their courtship right around Valentine’s Day. You may see them in fields and edges of woods, even in your neighborhood
