Welcome to my website!

I love writing children’s books about nature and the environment. Real life encounters with animals and insects inspire my stories. Even some of my fiction characters come from furry creatures found in my countryside neighborhood in Buxton, Maine.

So look around my website and enjoy your stay.

Coming in Spring 2028- How To Read A Tree

Published by Islandport Press

Be on the lookout for:

  • Watch for swallows catching insects in the air above fields and waterways; they migrate to Central America in early September
  • Common Nighthawks are birds that hunt insects in the sky starting at dusk; listen for their raspy “Peeent” calls
  • Keep an outside light on at night and see which moths are attracted to it
  • Shorebird migration is ON! Visit coastal tidal pools, marshes, and beaches and you may see thousands getting ready for their southbound journey
  • September 5th is International Vulture Day! (My favorite bird) Search the sky for these important birds that keep our world safe and clean.
  • The colorful warblers that arrived in spring are now in their more drab fall colors; find them in trees and shrubs like oaks and viburnums where there is an abundance of insects; peak migration is in mid-September
